Sarah is a British flute and piccolo player, based in Antwerp, Belgium.
Newly appointed as Second Flute with obl. Piccolo of the Brussels Philharmonic, she is passionate about promoting the piccolo, especially to show that this beautiful instrument has a place on the solo concert stage.
Having studied with Peter Verhoyen on Antwerp’s prestigious piccolo master course, Sarah has been awarded first prize in several competitions, including the International Gazzelloni Piccolo Competition, the Dutch International Piccolo Competition, the Carl D. Hall Piccolo Competition, and NFA Piccolo Orchestral Competition. She was also awarded second prize in the NFA’s 2021 Piccolo Artist Competition and the distinction of Best Performance of the Commissioned Work in 2020.
Sarah’s principal teachers have included Laura Jellicoe, Robert Winn, Aldo Baerten, and Peter Verhoyen.
In her spare time, Sarah enjoys drinking coffee, avoiding cooking wherever possible, and loves to travel.
