Why this Masterclass?
The piccolo looks like a small flute, but has important differences.
This Masterclass is meant to make you understand them and to know the main rules to master and love the great expressive capacities, the colors and the dynamics of this instrument, so that you can enjoy music and achieve excellent results playing it.

This Masterclass is dedicated to:
- flutists who need to acquire the most solid foundations of piccolo playing
- flutists who, equipped with these solid foundations, wish to participate in auditions where piccolo playing is also required
- flutists who have already achieved satisfying results with the flute and wish to obtain similar skills with the piccolo (intonation, flexibility, expressiveness, etc.)
- flutists who aim at achieving a safe daily routine with the piccolo
- flutists who do not have geographic accessibility to authoritative teachers
- flutists who wish to understand, even just theoretically, the basics of piccolo playing in order to be able to understand and teach them
This Masterclass should NOT be attended by:
- flutists who do not consider the study of the piccolo a serious and interesting thing
- flutists who think they have nothing more to learn on the piccolo
- users lacking a basic understanding of English
- users who do not have a webcam and internet connection

What will you learn in this masterclass?
Practice routine: you will learn which exercises to apply in your practice routine and how to check your level of progress
Embouchure: you will learn how to find your most correct piccolo embouchure, in order to avoid negative effects on your flute embouchure
Intonation: you will get accustomed to the peculiarities of the piccolo intonation by learning how to obtain in-tune and controlled sounds
Dynamics: you will learn how to train a solid flexibility to be able to control the piccolo dynamics in each register
Musical expression: you will learn to develop the greatest musical expression with your piccolo
Practice routine: you will learn which exercises to apply
in your practice routine and how to check your level of progress

Piccolo soloist of the Maggio Musicale Fiorentino from 1988 to 2020, his name is linked to numerous performance premieres and records: several composers have written pieces or concerts for piccolo for him.
Piccolo professor at the Hochschule of Lucerne in Switzerland, at the Conservatory of Italian Switzerland in Lugano, at the “Verdi” Conservatory in Milan and at the “Torrefranca” Conservatory in Vibo Valentia, during his career as a teacher he has developed an original teaching methodology appreciated worldwide.
Author of “The Mazzanti Method” (Theodore Presser editions), one of the most used exercise books for piccolo in the world.
He is the Artistic Director and co-founder of the International Piccolo Festival and the International Piccolo Flute Academy.
